The subscription runs six months, the phone becomes your family's after three — and from month seven the price goes down.

The phone arrives ready to hand over. Unlimited data (hotspot included) and Guardian Relay from day one. Cancel in this window and the device comes back — you stop paying, no arguing.
Ownership transfers to your family. From here the data connection is your call — keep ours, or put your own SIM in the phone you now own.
The term completes — six payments total, phone, data and guardian service all paid off.
The phone is paid off, so you stop paying phone-money: $40/mo with our unlimited data, or $30/mo on your own SIM. Cancel any time from here — the phone stays yours either way.
What "unlimited" means: full-speed data for real family use — calls, texts, maps, schoolwork, normal streaming and browsing, hotspot included. It's not a wholesale plan for running a household off the hotspot around the clock; if a device sees sustained, extreme use we'll ask you to ease off so the network stays fair for every family on it. That has never happened yet — just being upfront about it.
A ~$400 phone bought upfront, a $25–30/mo plan on top, a monitoring-app subscription on top of that — and a device designed by companies whose business is keeping your child staring at it.

Everyone you invite is a real person you chose — never a company. Ad networks, data brokers and social platforms have no way in, by design.
Your circle holds your backups, too
The same network is where your backups live. Guardian Relay backs up what matters — photos, videos, whole folders, even an entire iPhone photo library — end-to-end encrypted, to the trusted people in your circle instead of a corporation's cloud. They hold sealed data only you can open; losing a phone no longer means losing the photos on it.
Paying Apple every month because your photos outgrew the free iCloud tier? Move them to your own people instead of renting more storage. That's what a family network is for.

- Encrypted backups held by your own people — photos, videos, whole folders, sealed so only you can open them (spelled out below)
- From month 7 the price drops — $40/mo with our data, $30/mo on your own SIM, cancel any time

- Every update the day it ships, and direct support from the developer — not a ticket queue
Billed automatically each month to the card you save at checkout — no bank transfers, no invoices to chase. Payments run entirely through Stripe: your card details never touch PresenceOS servers, and Stripe emails a receipt every month.
Another child, another Presence phone, on the guardian setup you already run. Six-month term with the same unlimited data (hotspot included); because the second device is priced below what the hardware costs us, ownership transfers at month 6 rather than month 3 — then the same price drop applies from month 7.

This is a beta run by one developer. The subscription funds the hardware, the data plan, the servers and the hours; it does not buy a call centre. What it does buy is a phone where you — not an advertiser — are the customer.
The expectation goes both ways: subscribing families work directly with the developer. As your family learns what PresenceOS is all about and what it's capable of, your feedback moulds it — what gets built next is shaped by the people actually living with it, not by a roadmap written in a boardroom.
That's also why this price is called the Founding Family Rate and locked for life: early families are underwriting the rough edges and shaping the product, and the price they join at never goes up on them, even when the public rate does.
